Methanol oxidation on stepped Pt[n (111) x (110)] electrodes: a chronoamperometric study
Article Abstract:
A study of the methanol oxidation reaction on Pt[n (111) x (110)]-type electrodes in a 0.5 M sulfuric acid and 0.025 M methanol solution was conducted using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The results predicted that when the CO oxidation rate is faster than the decomposition rate, a rising current transient could be expected, as was seen for Pt(111).

Methanol decomposition on Pt/ZnO(0001)-Zn model catalysts
Article Abstract:
The relationship between metal particle structure and the reactivity and selectivity of oxide-supported metal catalysts is explored, and the effect of the 2D island size and 3D island height are studied. The results show that when the Pt islands are 2-3 layers thick, methanol decomposition is similar to that on low-index Pt faces.

Effect of reverse micelle size on the librational band of confined water and methanol
Article Abstract:
The measurement of the OH librational band in nanoscopic pools of water and methanol confined within reverse micelles is reported. The librational band, which peaks near 670 cm(super -1) in the bulk liquids, shifts to lower frequency as the reverse micelle size decreases.
